Endicott, NY: Defying Mother Nature, Air Supply Rocks It for Rain Soaked Fans at Dick's Sporting Commodity (PGA) Open at the En-Joie Golf Course
Friday the 13th. Many see this a day of the month destined to be filled with bad luck. Air Supply was determined to do certain this superstitious twenty-four hours was not one that fans would associate with their performance!
Dark violent storm clouds loomed overhead throughout the day, threatening delay or cancellation of the golf game tourney and worse yet, the out-of-door concert! After the last golf game three tapped in at the 18th hole, Air Supply was given the spell ahead to run its sound check, a mere hr before showtime. Microphone Zerbe began to beat out the membranophones as if it were an invitation to the violent storm peal in. Within minutes, Sparky, Moe, Brett, Nate, Mark and the local crew were difficult at work covering equipment with tarps, hoping to beat out the rainstorm that was about to begin.
As people ran for screen under tents, inside baths and wherever they could happen someplace to not acquire wet, proclamations were made that the show would travel on after the violent storm passed. We all got wet, but at least we knew we'd still have got a show! The skies opened up and a torrential cloudburst ensued. Thirty proceedings later the violent storm was over and as the multitudes of frequenters came out from their shelter, the beauty of a dual rainbow arced across the sky as if to state us that Mother Nature was just playing with us and this was our reward. Our pot of gold would come up in the word form of Charles Taze Charles Taze Russell Hitchcock, Billy Graham Russell, Jed Moss, Jonni Lightfoot and Microphone Zerbe!
Not a cloud in the sky, the sun was again shining, the air was crisp, smelling of cut grass and dirt, and that freshness after a cleaning rainstorm permeated throughout. Air Supply and the crews needed an hr to make clean up the phase before the show could begin, and right on agenda they began with Even The Nights Are Better.
Sticking with the same set listing we have got heard at recent Air Supply concerts, adjacent came Just As I Am and A Little Spot Of Everything. Billy Graham commented on the beauty of the eventide and how great it all smelled and thanked us for coming to the show even after the rain.
Here I Am and Chances were followed by Jed Moss playing Ira Gershwin as the presentation to Religion In Love. I previously heard Jed execute this Ira Gershwin figure in Las Vegas in May, but this public presentation exceeded even that one!
Normally, Charles Taze Russell and Billy Graham caput out into the audience for The One That You Love. It looked like they were going to seek but it wasn't very possible, so instead we had a rare dainty in seeing them execute the whole song on stage. I did acquire a cartridge holder of this and will post it soon.
I'll acknowledge to being a small baffled here, but my encephalon is telling me that the adjacent song Air Supply sang was actually Every Woman In The World instead of Lost In Love. I'm going to have got to acquire elucidation on this and will rectify the station if necessary. I think I was too caught up in the moment!
As Air Supply continued to play, the clouds that had rolled in once again unleashed their blithe rage on us, and it began to rain...hard! As Charles Taze Russell sang Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, people once again ran for cover. We squished up as stopping point to the phase as we could, hoping to avoid some of the rain. Unfortunately, the H2O falling over the top of the phase came pouring down on us. But we still clicked away on our cameras, trying to pass over away the H2O driblets from photographic camera lenses, eyeglasses, hair and faces! It didn't really assist and we were pretty soaked to the bone.
Air Supply continued to play, also getting wet, and I never saw the end of that song come up more than quickly and they all darted wing seeking shelter behind the phase equipment. But the fans wanted more! We all chanted, "One More Song! One More Song! One More Song!" We didn't believe we'd acquire it, but the rainfall quickly allow up and Air Supply ran back on stage! The fans were drenched and shivering, and we didn't care! We were having a great cartridge holder and we wanted more!
The set closed with All Out Of Love, and I'll implore forgiveness for the quality of the picture clip which have raindrops on it and agitates a small dorsum and forth. It was cold out there in the rain, because once again as they started to sing, it continued to rain! Air Supply finished and took their bows, heading quickly off stage.
We had hoped for a Meet & Greet, but, understandably, there was none. Catching one set member before he darted away, Iodine told him how great I thought the show was! He commented that he thought it was awful that we had to stand up in the rain. I assured him it was one of the best concerts I had been to and that from the fans' perspective, we thought it was awesome!
What an experience! I was so looking forward to seeing Air Supply in this, my first, out-of-door venue. There were true Airheads who came out to see Air Supply, and for a mere $25! It was a great nighttime and if I could utilize just one word to summarize up the full performance, I would state "Magnificent!"
Thank you to Graham, Russell, Jed, Jonni, Mike, Sparky, Brett, Moe, Nate and Mark who all performed under some of the worst conditions. They made the best eventide they could for us and no 1 will ever bury this Friday the 13th!
New picture cartridge holders and golf course will be posted on YouTube over the adjacent few days. Be certain to take a expression at these new cartridge holders as this out-of-door Air Supply concert presented the chance for some great footage!
